About the Children’s Foundation

Founded in 2000 by 26 civilians, Tartu University Hospital Children’s Foundation is one of the oldest and biggest charitable foundations in Estonia. We support hundreds of children in need of special treatment and care, and also their families. We also support the purchasing of medical equipment to hospitals. In the course of our 18 years of operating, we have collected more than 5 million Euros to improve the quality of treatment of the children, thanks to our donators. Our unofficial slogan is: „Filling gaps since 2000!”

What do we do?

  • We improve the quality of home treatment of children, who are ill and in need of special treatment – we compensate the families expenses related to the condition or illness of a child, that Estonian Health Insurance Fund, Social Insurance Board or local government does not cover, or cover partially;
  • We provide funding for medical equipment for the Children’s Clinic and for other children’s departments of Tartu University Hospital Clinics and for smaller hospitals around Estonia;
  • We improve the quality of treatment by supporting the additional training of doctors and other specialists;
  • We mediate the help of our supporters – we help them reach the people in need with their products and services.

How do we do it?

All the funds of the Children’s Foundation come from our good donators – citizens or companies, who wish to give their part to support sick children. We organize different charitable campaigns and actions to collect donations, we offer the possibility to donate to public places and events, and organize collaborations with sponsors.

In its activity, the Children’s Foundation relies mostly on volunteers: in addition to five paid employees (on 4,0 jobs), there are over 50 volunteers in Tartu and Tallinn, who help the Foundation achieve its goals. Even six members of seven on the Foundation’s board are volunteers and receive no pay for their work.

Our mission

The mission of the Children’s Foundation is to raise care and awareness of the population towards the weaker and more delicate.
